Can I let you in on a secret? I’m not much of a fan of really sugary snacks…GASP! Don’t get me wrong, I do love a good slice of gluten free cake every now and then but for everyday snacking I much prefer to grab a savoury option or a low sugar sweet treat.

Nairn’s have recently added two fantastic new gluten free snack options to their range: Pop Oats and Oat Bars. They got in touch to ask me to try the new range and to share my honest review about the products with my audience. Spoiler alert – Pop Oats are my new obsession and Alba keeps stealing my Oat Bars as she loves them! Scroll down to read my full reviews and for all the details about where you can buy these tasty new gluten free snacks.

Nairn’s Gluten Free Pop Oats

I can’t think of any other popped oat snacks on the market so I was especially intrigued to try the new Pop Oats from Nairn’s. They smashed my expectations as I really enjoyed these light, crunchy disks. Using oats as a base for these savoury snacks yields a really tasty base flavour, plus when paired with the gluten free seasonings Nairn’s have added, these Pop Oats are simply so moreish and easy to eat!

The perfect alternative to crisps (I loveeeee crisps, but I can’t really justify them as an everyday snack), I would happily eat these Nairn’s Pop Oats as a guilt-free snack every day. Each pack contains a mere 83 calories and has 60% less saturated fat than an average packet of crisps. Being made from wholegrain oats, they are also a good source of fibre and they contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

I’ll stop raving about them now :). Here are the practical details:

  • The new Nairn’s gluten free Pop Oats come in in three flavours: BBQ, Salt & Vinegar and Sour Cream & Chive.
  • All three flavours are gluten free, of course, plus the BBQ and Salt & Vinegar flavours are also suitable for vegans.
  • Pop Oats are available to buy in Morrison’s stores nationwide, with a RRP £0.80 per bag.

Nairn’s Gluten Free Oat Bars

True story – I had to hide my remaining Nairn’s Oat Bar stash from my daughter Alba as whenever she sees them lying around the house she goes for them. This morning I found her lying happily on the sitting room floor, clutching and gazing lovingly at the Nairn’s Cacao & Orange Oat Bar…she was less than pleased when I took it away from her!

The new Nairn’s Gluten Free Oat Bars are right up my street too. They have 40% less sugar than the average fruit/cereal bar, which is perfect for me as I find many other varieties to be overly sweet. And the lower sugar content meant I was happy sharing them with Alba – it is important to limit salt and sugar intake for young children, so I am always inspecting ingredients on snacks before letting her eat them.

These Oat Bars also have the nicest texture as they are made of wholegrain oats plus seeds and other lovely natural ingredients. The bars are either high in fibre (Cacao & Orange/Apple & Cinnamon Oat Bars) or high in protein (Mixed Seeds & Protein Oat Bar), contain no artificial ingredients, no hydrogenated fat and no GM ingredients. Hooray for healthy gluten free snacks. I have already packed one in my bag for when I am out and about with Alba – these Oat Bars are ideal on-the-go food.

Here are the important details:

  • The new Nairn’s Gluten Free Oat Bars are available in three flavours: Cacao & Orange, Mixed Seeds & Protein and Apple & Cinnamon.
  • All three flavours are gluten free and suitable for vegans.
  • You can buy the Nairn’s Oat Bars in Waitrose, priced at RRP £0.75 per bar.

Happy snacking!
